Charging Pod - Original OEM ASY-14396-013 for BlackBerry Torch 9800

This is a really stylish and useful accessory for the BB Torch.First and foremost it's a syncing / charging pod for the phone. You can of course just plug in the USB lead to sync / charge from the computer or the power adaptor to charge from the mains. This pod though, gives you a safe, steady and very good looking desktop accessory for your phone to sit safely in whilst syncing etc. If your desk is anything like mine, there's clutter everywhere and a real risk of sending the phone flying if it's just sat there.The pod is finished in essentially the same colour as the black Torch - a sort of marble black / silver. A little neon lights up when it's connected to the computer or the mains, so you know the dock is live.The key thing is that it holds the phone in an upright position, (albeit on its side), so it is visible. The phone itself then displays a classic analogue clock - you can set this to bedside mode so the flashing LEDs and the phone button lights go out. The display uses an ambient light sensor to dim the clock face down as necessary. Set the time to wake up, charge it in the pod overnight and your phone becomes a lovely bedside alarm clock, that's ready to go in the morning.This is a simple but very effective accessory.You might need a USB extension lead as the cable that comes with phone is rather short. This way you can position the pod wherever you like on your desk.

This pod is a genuine Blackberry product manufactured to their high quality standards. It is made from solid heavy plastic in polished black chrome matching the surround of the BB 9800. It has a rubber base and power-on indicator somehow built into the plastic. It attaches to the standard charger emiting a blue glow. I expect it will be mainly used as a bedside alarm clock and is very stable due to its weight and rubber base.Operating is very simple as all you do is place the 9800 into the pod and it immediately defaults into clock mode. You can then use the option BB button to enter 'Bedside Mode' that dimes illumination and cuts off the wi-fi and phone. In the morning you awake to the melodious BB alarm and have a charged phone.My only gripe is that the the 9800 bedside mode is still not dim enough.

This is exactly the accessory you want for a high end Smartphone device like the Torch. I bought two at the same time: one for my desk and one for my bedside table. It turns my Torch into a bedside clock and will charge overnight, whilst the the one on my desk not only charges, but, of course, also allows any synchronisation I want to do.The soft light at on the top of the cradle is a nice touch to confirm there's power going to the unit.Simple, stylish and functional, it does exactly what you expect and well designed to look good as well as being practical.

This is a nice dock. It looks the part, it's clean, great design, but it's not as heavy or as sturdy as I'd have liked.I've seen the official Blackberry docks and they are much better quality than this. However, this one is functional, it charges the phone, the phone sits well in it, and that's that.

It's basically a stand for your BB, but a nice looking bit of kit. BB stands in it solidly enough. Need to be careful when putting it in so the connection slots in, but otherwise it's ok. Make sure your charger lead is plugged in, otherwise it won't charge! Ahem!

I've been very happy with this item (so much so that I actually bought a second one). It allows you to use the mobile phone as a clock and alarm clock, thus not needing a 'normal' clock taking up space.It also of course charges the mobile at the same time. What more could I want in that regard.Oh yes, it looks good too, has non-slip feet and a courtesy light to show that it is connected to the mains.

It is quite sad to admit, but I love this! The torch fits into it perfectly and, parked on my desk, makes it easy to see messages coming in. It also effectively turns the torch into a desk clock! In my view it is a bargain. The rest of the family have been looking for something similar to match their phones (eg HTC desire) but this seems unique in its quality and how well the phone fits. A must for every torch owner.

This lasted for ages, used it everyday and would work without fail, when I got rid of my blackberry and gave this to a friend and she said it last about 2 more years after that.
