The Asus ZenScreen provides an additional 15.5” of useable screen for a notebook computer. The all-plastic black housing has a fine semi-matte textured finish on a 5/16” frame surrounding the display panel and an easy-to-grip striated texture on the bottom edge of the front and on the back. With an overall size of 1/2 x 8-7/8 x 9-1/8” it will fit inside many notebook cases alongside a computer. The detachable “kick stand” support can be left attached, increasing the total thickness to 7/8”. This support is connected with a simple thumbscrew that does not require tools for installation or removal from the display. The stand has a silicone rubber non-skid foot and it is hinged to allow adjustment in viewing angle. It folds flat for storage and transport. Asus has thoughtfully provided a 1/2” diameter hole in the stand that serves as a hanging point if you desire to attach the monitor to a wall or cubicle partition. The left bottom edge of the display has the connection jacks. First is a 3.5mm headphone jack. Below that are a mini-HDMI port and two USB-C ports. The USB-C ports support DP Alt mode which allows you to power the screen and supply the video signal through a single USB-C cable. I connected it this way to my Lenovo IdeaPad and it powered up and displayed right away. Alternatively, you can connect using the HDMI port, but this will require providing power to one of the USB-C ports through a second cable. The front lower left corner contains a momentary press on/off button and a mini joystick. Pressing the joystick brings up an onscreen menu from which you can navigate and make your selections. In addition to the built-in menu system, you have the option of installing the Asus “DisplayWidget Center” app. This app gives you many more display options, including contrast, color saturation, RGB color adjustment and auto change to vertical orientation. I’m not big on installing apps unless they are really needed, but this one did allow me to match the display characteristics of the ZenScreen to closely match my notebook’s display. The app does nag you to set up and Asus account, so that might cause me to uninstall it. Asus includes a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, a USB-C cable and a padded zippered case to hold everything. This is a very nice portable monitor that gets my excellent rating.

Great screen for traveling! It’s soo nice to have a second monitor when working, you wouldn’t understand until you’ve have one. This monitor is great because it only requires one USB-C connection to expand your video from a laptop. Some of the other screens I’ve tried require a video cable and a separate power cable which can be clunky when traveling. It does pull power from the laptop so you need to take battery life into account. Come with a quick and easy to attach stand on the back which will support the monitor in landscape and portrait mode. The screen is pretty stable with the included stand but obviously you red to be delicate with it, it’s not as sturdy as a full desk monitor. Screen brightness is good as well, I had no issues at all using this and seeing the screen from any angle. So far I’m very happy with the screen and appreciate how quick and easy it is to setup and breakdown. It comes with a zippered travel bag to give it some protection but again you do need to be delicate with it, in now way is this a “rugged” screen. Fits well in a backpack for easy carrying. One thing I was a little disappointed about was the screen lacks and speakers. I understand they would be minimal due to the size of the screen but something would have been better than nothing. It only has a 3.5mm headphone jack if you wanted to plugin headphones or speakers. I guess they expect you to use the primary device for sound if needed. Overall, it’s a great monitor and I would recommend it to others. The Full HD IPS panel looks good for productivity, web use, documents, monitoring dashboards, remote sessions, and general second-screen work. Viewing angles are solid, text is clear, and the anti-glare surface helps a lot when using it in different lighting conditions. It is not trying to be a high-end gaming or color-grading display, but for portable productivity, it does the job well. The dual USB-C setup is one of the best features. It keeps cabling simple, and depending on the device, you can run display and power with minimal clutter. That makes it great for laptops, mini PCs, test benches, travel setups, or any situation where you need a quick temporary monitor. The 360-degree kickstand is also a big improvement over flimsy folding cases. It gives you more positioning options and makes the monitor easier to use in different spaces. VESA mounting would be nice on every portable monitor, but for a portable screen, the built-in stand is practical and stable enough for normal use. I am impressed and thrilled with this portable USB monitor from Asus. As someone who provides remote computer support, I use two displays most of the time--one for the remote session and one for local apps. In the past, working while traveling has been cumbersome, but not anymore! Immediately after unboxing, I connected the display with a single USB-C cable to a MacBook. The display took about 4 seconds to start up, and then it simply worked. By default it acts as an extended monitor for the MacBook. There were absolutely no MacBook settings to change--literally plug and play. At first the picture quality next to the Mac was pretty dim, but that was only because the brightness was set very low. I raised it to 60% and the display became brilliant. The Mac display is still better, but for office work, the Asus display looks great. Next I connect the USB-C cable to a 7 year old Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop running Windows 11. Same experience--plug and play, the only difference was that by default the second display was set to duplicate instead of extend. 10 seconds of settings changes fixed that. Finally I plugged the USB-C cable into an iPhone 16 Pro. Again, plug and play! The iPhone image appeared vertically when the Asus was horizontal, and turning the Asus vertical did not make the image full screen. But rotating the iPhone to horizontal did the make the image on the Asus full screen horizontal as well. Netflix looked terrific! There are a lot of possible variations that I haven't explored, mainly because I won't use them. For example, there's a volume setting on the display, which may control speakers or perhaps only the volume for the 3.5mm headphone jack. The box includes a nice zip up sleeve for the display and a little cinch sack for the kickstand, which attached or detaches easily in a couple seconds. I haven't run the display yet for an extended period of time, so I don't know how much impact it will have on the laptop or iPhone battery. Since there are two USB-C ports, you can always connect dedicated power to the screen separately from the connection to the source device. Screen size is excellent. It's large enough to be useful, but any larger would might get difficult to fit in a backpack. This portable external display is an excellent value.

We're extremely happy with this external monitor. When first unpacking the clear standout is the build quality. The monitor itself is thin, very sturdy and the materials are excellent. The monitor is very light and the included sleeve protects it without adding much bulk. The kickstand is removable and sturdy, and it makes it easy to adjust to any angle. The included cables are high quality and braided on the outside, so they're nice, tough, and durable. Using the monitor is as simple as plugging it into a port (we use the USB-C port) and windows immediately recognizes the monitor and after a brief flicker you're running dual screens. The screen itself is excellent as well. The colors are vibrant and text is crisp. It's easy to adjust menu settings using the rocker buttons on the front, and it works perfectly for productivity on the go because the 15.4 screen is perfectly sized at 1080p for text and reading. Overall we have nothing but good things to say about this monitor, and it's the go-to device to bring in the backpack when traveling.

I have been using this portable monitor for about a month now mainly with my iPhone, Pixel, and Switch 2. The iPhone connects with a single cable and displays the screen right away without needing an external power supply which makes it the cleanest setup of the three. The Pixel works well too but does need an external power supply since the phone alone does not push enough power through to run the monitor which is worth knowing before buying. For the Switch 2 it works great but you need a portable dock and a power supply to get it running so the cable situation adds up a bit. The display quality is sharp and clear with wide viewing angles and the anti-glare coating handles bright environments well. The kickstand is easy to attach and sturdy enough to hold the monitor at a good angle without shifting around during use. The whole thing is light and slim enough to throw in a bag without adding much weight which is the main appeal for travel. The downside is the included sleeve fits the monitor tightly and leaves no room for cables so you need a separate pouch for those. There are also no built in speakers so audio goes through your device or a headphone jack. Good option if you want a portable second screen that works across multiple devices and is easy to set up on the go.

This portable monitor has been a great addition to my setup. It's lightweight and easy to carry, making it perfect for travel or adding a second screen wherever you need one. I had to loosen the screw to swivel it and then tighten it again to keep it from moving, which makes changing orientations more cumbersome than expected. Overall, those are relatively minor complaints. The monitor performs well, is easy to use, and the price is very reasonable for what you get. If you're looking for a portable display with good image quality and reliable plug-and-play performance, this one is an excellent value.
