I am always on the lookout for nice looking and comfortable shorts to exercise and play basketball or softball in. There are some personal preferences I have when it comes to shorts. They have to be machine washable, the material must be soft and comfortable, and the shorts should have pockets. These Baseball Lifestyle 101 shorts meet all of my preferences. I was very excited to take them out of the package when they arrived because they looked so awesome online. My first impression of these shorts was a very positive one. The material is 100% polyester. The material is fairly soft, comfortable to wear, and durable. The shorts are machine washable on cold, and it is recommended to air dry them. I have been drying them in my dryer on the low setting and there has been no issue so that may be an option to consider instead of hanging them up to dry. There are two side pockets, although I would not actually put anything in them while playing ball or moving around a lot because of the risk of your keys or wallet falling out. When I ordered these shorts, I ordered them because of the unique design. I liked the color scheme as well with the dark blue waistband and the rest of the shorts being white. The pattern is really unique. It is made up of a bunch of baseball themed doodles, such as the Baseball Lifestyle 101 logo, a baseball diamond, a player fielding a ball, etc. These are mesh shorts, so there is some good breathability in the material which should keep you cooler on hot days. There is a drawstring elastic waistband as well which is a nice touch. The coloring is better in person than it looks online as the doodles pop on the white background. Such a great and unique design. I had never heard of Baseball Lifestyle 101 before, but I am very impressed with this brand. These mesh shorts have an elastic waist with drawstrings to tie up to your preferred tightness. There are 2 pockets which are ideal for an earbud case, keys, or anything really. The stretchiness of the material allows you to still be able to take some fielding practice or batting practice without sacrificing any mobility. My only personal drawback on these shorts is that the inseam is only 5 inches. I would prefer it to be 7, but this is something minor and not that big of a deal. I would definitely recommend these shorts to anyone who plays ball. Sizing is true, XL really means XL. The unique look and feel of these shorts makes the $50 price well worth it and a great value. These shorts instantly made my son smile because they look like a page ripped straight out of a school notebook, with blue lines, doodles, and little baseball sketches all over them that actually pop more in person than I expected. The white mesh fabric feels light and airy against the skin, and in normal indoor lighting you can see that it is slightly see through, so my son prefers darker compression shorts underneath which works well for him. The elastic waistband sits comfortably at his waist without digging in, and the length hits just above his knees which gives him enough room to move around on the stairs and in the house without feeling restricted. He has already run around the house in them to test how they feel when he is moving quickly and he says they feel cool and easy to move in, so I feel good about him using them for climbing and other sports. From a parent perspective, I really like that these have side pockets that are big enough for his phone and whatever random treasures he decides to carry, and the pockets did not flop around while he was walking barefoot on our hardwood floors. The doodle graphics are playful and busy in a good way with things like a baseball diamond, a player mid swing, and little shapes and symbols that make the shorts feel fun instead of serious athletic gear, and a couple of the drawings even made my son stop and laugh. Stitching looks clean all around the hem and along the waistband, with no loose threads that I could find during a quick once over, which gives me confidence they will hold up to frequent wear and washing, altho of course time will tell. Overall these shorts are a fun mix of comfort and personality, and my son is genuinely excited to wear them for climbing sessions and pretty much any casual sports activity.

These are genuinely fun shorts - the design looks like someone doodled all over a sheet of notebook paper with baseball sketches and it actually pops way more in person than it looks in the photos - I'm a big fan of the classic millennial "S" that's drawn on them - you all know the one :P The mesh fabric is lightweight and soft, which you don't always expect from a polyester athletic short but these feel really comfortable. It has an inner liner like swim trunks though - I kind of wish they didn't but I guess this is standard with baseball shorts. Sizing runs true - elastic waist with an inner drawstring so you can dial it in. Pockets on the sides which is always a must. Only thing to note is the inseam is 5 inches so if you prefer longer shorts just be aware of that going in. Really fun design, solid build quality, washes well. Worth it.

Only thing to note is they are a bit on the shorter side, but that seems to be the style right now and didn’t bother my kid at all. This brand has very clever stylists that come up with eye-catching baseball related designs. The lightweight machine washable mesh fabric is made of polyester. I don’t know how they get it to feel so soft yet sturdy. The shorts have an elastic waistband with an inner drawstring to make it the perfect fit without the ends flopping about. There are ample side pockets too. The workmanship is just as outstanding as the unique graphics. I love it when seams are perfect seams and there are no loose threads. To me, it’s a sign of excellent quality control. They look great on, just a little baggy but the boy who will wear them is growing by leaps and bounds, so it should fit for a long time. Good for everyday use, even to school, these shorts are going to get used a lot. This was an pricier purchase but the quality and value make it worth the cost. I would buy again.
