Great for Longer Cooking Times
I like these. They made my transition to a plant-based/vegan diet easier. These chunks allowed me to make familiar recipes when other meat replacements would have fallen apart. I added them to pasta and used them in my Instant Pot to make a vegan version of butter chicken. Delicious. The chunks keep their shape and do not get soggy at all, even in a pressure cooker. There is a taste to them (kind of like the faint smell of wheat bread with brown sugar/molasses) that would be noticeable when eating them by themselves, but in a casserole, curry, or pasta dish, the taste isn't dominant or unpleasant. If I could give them 3.5 stars, I would because they are a bit more than okay; however, a few of the pieces wouldn't get soft I tried returning them to a pan for more cooking. Even leftovers soaking in sauce all night and another day still had some too-firm pieces. Those firm pieces were edible, just not great, and I have tooth sensitivity so the surprise change in texture was painful. So, I will probably buy them again to see if the firmness was a batch issue. There weren't many pieces that didn't get soft, so the value wasn't lost. I needed them, and if I ever want to have my certain recipes again, I am glad I can access these.

Delicious, satisfying, and a great addition to vegetarian diet
I’ve been a vegetarian for quite a while and therefore cannot attest to the likeness of this product to real chicken. However, what I can say for sure is that I absolutely love the taste and texture. I find it much more satisfying than eating tofu to get my protein and I believe it has significantly more protein than regular tofu. I’ve used this to make a chicken salad for sandwiches and it was great. I’ve used it with no salt added Hunts tomato sauce with a modest amount of Parmesan cheese and I loved it. I’ve added it to regular pasta and sauce and this also was a terrific way to use this. I became a vegetarian because I did not wantnor need to have my happiness depend on the suffering of another creature, and now I can do that with a great new,to me, product. I highly recomend this product!!! One suggestion I have is that the better way to prepare this is to use package directions regarding ratio of the chicken to water and then microwaving for about 5 to 8 minutes, as opposed to the alternate method of pouring very hot water over the chicken and waiting a few minutes. That suggestion just didn’t work well for me. And I definitely preferred the chicken to not beef which I found to be less enticing than the chicken.

Produced 8 Amazing low-cost meals!
Using half the bag, I soaked in warmed vegetable bouillon then pressed out the liquid through a colander back into bowl. Did a stir-fry in wok for 1st meal adding a little reserved broth back into the meal while cooking. Delicious, good texture, 4 full plate servings. Vegetarians and Carnivores were well-pleased. Second round, repeated same procedure and made Fake Chicken Tikka Masala with an organic coconut cream curry serving 4 with leftovers. Wow! Most important thing is flavor your product in warm broth of your choosing then squeeze out the extra liquid. After that you can treat it like meat in any dish you create. This is a more cost-effective alternative to packaged meals and frozen dinners if you are feeding a vegetarian family and its Non-GMO. A single person could probably stretch the product over a week. Love and will buy again. It saved me at least $20.00 vs. using grocery store brands.

My secret: Add curry powder
I have really grown to love this product, so much so that I just bought the "three-pack," because it's a better deal. I tend to like simple foods, and having been a vegetarian for almost 40 years, I've tried a lot of protein substitutes! I haven't been in a grocery store in 6 months (!) due to the pandemic, so I have been experimenting with some protein-alternative products like this. The first time I tried this product, it seemed bland to me, even in a stir fry. Then, the next time I re-constituted some of it (I use the stovetop method), I added curry powder. It is great! The curry flavor soaks right in as the water absorbs. Then I add to a stir-fry or salad, or just eat it as a snack; to me, it is delicious. The package says a serving is 5/8 cup. For me, a serving is more like 3/8 cup, and so I make a batch of this every three days. It is super high in protein, iron, fiber, and potassium and has good calcium content too. It is also low fat and relatively low cal.. I'm really glad I took a chance on this product, and will surely continue to use it even when the pandemic is someday over.

Delicious, even as dipping crackers! 25 grams of protein for 5/8c dried -- 2 points on WW
this stuff is awesome. I boiled it in broth and then let it soak and it tasted delicious. Very filling and that surprised me.AND, here is the awesome delight, I used the big pieces as dipping crackers, instead of Fritos which I am addicted to. It worked! good with peanut butter, good with guacamole, good with black bean dip. 25 grams of protein for 5/8 a cup dried which is about 2-3 Weight Watcher points depending on which point system you are using. plus the points of whatever you are dipping into. Salsa is zero points tho. Used the left over smaller pieces for "chicken soup".

Never do fully and completely reconstitute
I've simmered them in twice the liquid for twice as long and even afterwards let them marinate overnight, but they still never do fully reconstitute. There's always a part of each piece, either in the center or on an end that never fully softens and remains hard like jerky or rawhide her and that leaves them in the uncanny valley that ruins the illusion of being chicken strips, or even just having the the texture that you want for an admittedly faux chicken vegan dish.If you do try them, it's best to add some flavoring to the liquid you use to reconstitute so that it permeates the pieces as they reconstitute. Poultry seasoning is good and so is a diluted portion of the sauce you eventually plan to cook them in.

Bad texture and just gross
The shape of these pieces resembles coin-shapes. They are flat. No one would be fooled that they're chicken at first glance, not when eaten. Butler is better; Frontier Coop is the best (and also organic).

Amazing Texture
I ordered this product for a recipe to make Vegan Butter Chicken in an instapot. It had a texture that most closely resembles what I remember of chicken meat, and it was so easy to incorporate into the recipe! I can't wait to find other uses for this product!
