Excellent Crochet Hook
This item is fantastic! It feels great in the hand, the wider grip means I can crochet for longer periods of time, and the length is perfect! The flat end of the hook part is nice as it helps prevent yarn strand separations, and the pointier tip on the top of the hook makes it easier to slip this between stitches. HOWEVER, after having this hook in my possession for just about 3 days, my dog discovered she loves it too—specifically, the rubber handle. I've ducted taped this one so I can continue using it until I get a new order in and received, and I'll be finding a different spot, out of the dog's reach, to store my crochet projects when I'm not crocheting.

Favorite model of hook
I use only this model of hooks because they are smooth, hold yarn/thread securely but also release quickly as needed. They're extremely comfortable for my arthritic hands. They're MUCH less expensive than other brands that are touted as being "the best." I've given away all the others. I wish these were made in the smaller hook sizes!

Almost there—close enough
The handle on this hook in this new line from Susan Bates isn’t really soft (like Tulip Etimo or Rose or even Clover Amour). It’s a solid-feeling, almost hard rubber, or something like it, as far as I can tell. However, I must say that, for me, this is the best Susan Bates crochet hook line so far. The handle makes holding the hook much more comfortable (and for longer periods) than either of the previous designs— straight hook or with bamboo handle. I can use the pencil or knife grip easily; I could only use the knife grip with the bamboo handle hooks. Of course, I could use both knife and pencil grips with the straight hooks, but crocheting with them for long periods hurt my hands. Also, I disliked that the hooks with bamboo handles—made in India, not Mexico—had rounded heads and shallow hooks, making it more difficult for me to push the hook into a stitch and grab the working yarn. This new line has the Mexico hooks with their pointy heads and deep grooves. Yay! I think that inline crochet hooks are the best kind there is; that Susan Bates' are the best inline hooks available; and that this is the best version of the Susan Bates Silvalume hooks. It’s not perfect—a Tulip handle would make it that—but it’s close enough that I give it five stars. :)

Good hook
This is an inline hook. Meaning the hook part is straight inline with the body of hook. I wanted to try this type of hook. I found it worked very well with cotton yarn. But if you have a yarn that seperates easily this isnt the one to use as it gets between the threads often.

Crochet hooks
I only use Susan Bates hooks and these are great and very helpful to hold when you have arthritic hands.
