New Balance KJ554 Running Shoe (Infant/Toddler/Little Kid/Big Kid)

Just a warning--this color combination (listed as grey/blue, but has black in it too) is very "girly" when you see it in person. My 4 year old son loves bright blues so we picked this one out for him and, I will admit, DID NOT click on the many different "views" of the shoe or do any close ups of it. When it arrived we discovered glittery silver thread in the yellow strip that holds the laces together, and on the trim. Also the grey mesh on the back is very glittery. To top it off, the NB logo on the tongue of the shoe has a flowery design.Luckily Amazon has such an amazing return system that we just picked a new color combo, printed the return labels and we are set, but I just wanted to warn everyone to look closely at the color combinations if you are looking at these for a boy! Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that they have a color combo like this for girls--lots of girls don't want pink or purple and this is a great change, but a bit disconcerting when you think you are getting a shoe for a boy!(as for the 5 stars--we love NB shoes for our son, he has wide feet, wears orthotics and his New Balance shoes always hold up to anything he puts them through. We are actually only ordering these so he can have nice looking new shoes for the school year, his old pairs still fit great, they are just starting to look a little worse for wear.)

Too new to know how they'll hold up, but these seem to be good, sturdy shoes. Fit is excellent. Colors are fun.

This was the first pair of New Balance sneakers I've bought for my tween daughter and she loves them. I love the price considering she'll probably outgrow them in 3-4 months. She said they were instantly comfortable. She especially likes that they are slightly wide in the toe area -- she said it gives her toes lots of wiggle room without her foot sliding around. She likes that they are light weight -- she says they are comfortable to run in. They are not, however, made for wearing outside in colder weather but they're perfect for leaving in her school gym locker during the week so she can change out of her heavy winter boots when she gets to school. I will definitely buy the next size up when she outgrows the current pair.

I typically turn to Amazon for most shoe purchases as I can almost always find good prices on name brand shoes for my children. New Balance is particular favorite of mine for them as they just seem to have the best durability because they usually look close to new even after several months of play and abuse. My kids have never complained about discomfort as they have with Saucony, Nike, and other store brands (I gave up on the store brands after the "toddler" stage because the soles would literally fall apart within weeks). My son flipped when we were looking on here for a new pair of shoes because they have yellow on them, and I did because the price was amazing! I think he's been wearing them for a few months now and aside from a little dirt on the bottom, they look as good as they did coming out of the box. Totally recommend!

My seven year old was slightly disappointed upon receiving these shoes because they weren't Air Jordan's, but he didn't complain, which is a big plus in my book. He says they are comfortable. They are also easy to get on and off, and his laces stay tied, which is also a plus. So far, they have stayed much newer looking than I expected, and they seem quite durable. My one complaint is that the colors are a bit more feminine looking than I initially expected. Not crazy girly, but they are really similar to a pair of women's shoes I purchased for myself... Happy shoe shopping-- these didn't disappoint us, and they likely won't disappoint you either!

My first grader has PE for the first time this year, and needed some athletic shoes. She also has joined a lunchtime running club, so we knew we needed to get her some real shoes to meet her needs. I showed her lots of options and she definitely liked the colors and design of this pair the best. The fit was true to size and she learned how to tie her shoes pretty quickly on them, so she can retie them when needed. Just know that these require actual lacing skills - the picture of the item makes it seem like they may be pre-tied and elasticized for a slip-on fit. She wore them all day at her school's walk-a-thon last weekend and got a gold medal. Highly recommend these shoes and feel they were worth the price.

This is the first time that I was able to order shoes online for my kids and have them actually fit when they arrived! If you measure their feet and get the correct size according to the measurement, you won't be dissapointed. The only issue that we had was that there are "strings" inside the shoe and the kids complained about it irritating their feet. I had to cut the extra strings from the inside of the shoe, which was not easy as they are attached deep into the shoe and you have to remove the laces and stretch them out to get to them.

My son is very hard on his shoes, and is still learning to get them on the right feet! I love these shoes for him because they are easy for him to put on, wash up well and endure. Unlike other shoes that are cute but not comfortable, they wont break the bank! He's on his fifth pair and I intend to buy more. The Kids NB shoes come in a variety of styles and colors and he loves the variety. I let him pick the colors he likes, and I win!! I'm over buying the high priced shoes...until he gets to high school and my opinion doesn't supercede his buddies.
