Yes. The EN-EL20A will provide a somewhat greater run time/capacity though.

Does it work for the P1000?

I bought this for a friend that has the P1000 on order. She had done research and found that this was the battery that she needed for the P1000.

I think directly from Nikon if at all. But I have been disappointed by them. I sent a camera to be reconditioned. It had been working but had occasional image degradation. They kept it for a while and then sent it back saying they would no longer service it. When I got it back it didn't work at all! I had thought of Nikon as in the league with Rolls Royce. No more!
