Hillman 847026 2-Inch Numbers, Letters, and Punctuation Combo Stencil Set

Pros: These are very sturdy stencils for their price. They are made of durable card stock with a shiny finish. With non-water based paints they should last a very long time. Cons: Only the first stencil (the number 2) was punched out. The rest were cut, but the puzzle pieces were still connected. If you plan on using these for the first time give yourself a few minutes more to prep the pieces. I would buy them again.

I used them to trace letters onto wood. Worked great. Easy to punch out and sturdy enough to reuse.

Good: Does the job, if you don't ask too much of it. Excellent price. Bad: Not durable for much more than one use. I bought these to stencil my home address on a set of new trash bins. After the second bin, pulling up the tape removed the top layer of cardboard from half the letters, two of which tore through and had to be replaced. For small jobs only. Ugly: I had to buy three sets of stencils to get enough "2"s for my address. Not a big deal - they're cheap - but wasteful. Bottom line: Again, if you don't ask too much of them, they'll get the job done. Don't assume they'll be usable more than once. Four stars, mostly for the price.

I'm using this to create a spray paint stencil to spray my trash cans with my address- it seems that someone in my neighborhood (ahem) "collects" trash and recycling cans, mine and my neighbors' disappear on trash day from time to time. My address has two 1's and two 8's in it, I was hoping that at least the numbers had doubles, but they do not. A few letters and punctuation have doubles, but it does not seem to follow rhyme or reason (they are not the most common letters, I think). There are a few blank cards included, so I used the included characters to trace and create stencils of the doubles that I needed, and used an exacto knife to cut them out. Mission accomplished, but I wish the product description included a full list of exactly what is included. They are made of very flimsy thin cardboard. Not really suited for spraying I think (have not sprayed with them yet), and thin enough that repeated use as a stencil to trace (with pencil etc) will probably wear them out quickly. I'll give the stencil that I built a few coats of some kind of sealant first, so the paint does not cause it to disintegrate. This seems like a use once/ throw away product unless you take steps to beef it up.

I ordered these because couldn't find a pack of clear plastic stencils (clear would really help positioning the letters). To make them last I painted clear acrylic on both sides, could have sprayed but I like thicker paint for protection. now going to look for 1" size exactly the same typestyle.

Great price!! These stencils are made out of cardboard so please let them dry out if you’re going to use them multiple times!!!!

Received the order timely. I just wish the stencils were plastic instead of cardboard, but still nice and does the job.
