Ford Pinto Of Label Printers
This printer. Oh, this printer has made the last year of my life a living hell. I spent $1200 on something that has caused more anxiety than a virgin on prom night. The printer didn't work with the operating system on my computer, so I bought a new one. Lo and behold, the printer doesn't work right with a USB 3.0, so I go buy a USB hub to try to make them play nice together. It works okay sometimes, but never $1200 worth of all right. The past two weeks it has *not* worked more than it has worked. For some reason this printer realizes when I need it to work, like really need it to work, and gives me the eff you finger and refuses. No matter how hard I work to make sure there's enough bleed on the base file, that this and that are spaced correctly (I'm OCD, so I know a thing or two about micro details.) there is always white space where there shouldn't be.I spent 4 hours on chat with 3 different Primera technical support people. The first one said the problem was that my files were stored on Google Drive. (They've always been stored on Google Drive.) The next rep said it was because the base files were all in Illustrator format. The next person said I would both have to recreate all files (many hundreds) that I've been using for over a year and move them from a local file to another local file. I mean what? Really? So...I do this. Not all of them. I created them as I needed them yesterday. Changing .ai files to .pdf files and resaving them into a different folder on my computer. (They refused to believe that the google drive folder on my computer was a local drive. -_-)So I start printing my "new labels" look super terrible- no matter how I change the settings. Hell, I upped the quality and changed it to "Graphics Quality" and it looked like a 3-grader reproduced it with crayons. 3 hours into "Finally Getting My Life On Track Again", the stupid thing does the exact same thing (stopping in the middle of a print) with the new base files AND new label files that THEY told me to make stored where THEY told me to store them. That THEY said would fix all of my problems and would make world peace finally happen. That wasn't the case. I left work again yesterday with chest pains and my lunch rolling in my stomach. I am so angry, disappointed and ready to chuck this thing over the hill. Primera, y'all need to figure out what's wrong with this thing. I paid TOO MUCH for something this bad. This is like the Ford Pinto of label printers. Primera LX400 Color Label Printer, USB 2.0, 4800 dpi

Just Okay
The printer works as expected, but the image is not as vibrant as I would like.

Good product if you know how to use it.
I love this printer for on demand label printing. The printer skips the first sticker when it prints so it is best to print single, large batches rather than small ones. Also If the ink is too saturated you can control the ink saturation levels in the printer preferences.

Run while you can!
Wow, I don't even know where to begin explaining what a problem this device has been. The first device we were shipped (we purchased directly through Primera) didn't function at all. After weeks of haggling with the support department, we went though an exchange process which yielded a device which functions intermittently. We followed every instruction they gave us to the letter, and we even let them remote access our computers to set the printer up the way they saw fit. We changed computers, we changed operating systems, we changed cables, and we reinstalled drivers and did power cycles for 3 months straight. Finally, we made a point to ask for a refund because their "warranty" states that the product guaranteed to be functional and free from defect for one year. Their response was to try and force us to purchase the more expensive LX900 and issue us a credit. Here is the email we received, copied verbatim:"My apologies for the delays as I was checking on a few things. We can set it up to exchange it again. I think you would be happier with one of our LX900’s, which are more robust than the LX400, considering the ongoing problems you have been having. We could give you an $1150 credit towards a refurbished LX900 for $1850.Let me know what you would like to do."When we refused this offer and insisted on a refund, we were offered a refurbished LX900 for no additional cost. Again, we insisted on getting a refund. Finally, we were told,"There will be a 15% restocking fee charged, since the unit was purchased back in December and is well out of our return policy window. I will forward your request to our RMA coordinator.Thanks."When I asked about the 1 year warranty, I was told, "Yes, the warranty is 1 year that covers repair. It does not cover returning the unit. The return policy is different, which is actually 30 days from original purchase date.Thanks."Apparently, we would have been much better off insisting on a return during the first 30 days rather than try to work with them. We are still fighting. I can only recommend to you, in the very strongest terms, do not purchase this printer.
