MD 6x16 Monocular

I own several monoculars, and this one is by far my favorite - It's a useful magnification range, and it's very fast and easy to use - and a sleek design on top of that.The eye relief at 13mm isn't fantastic, but I can still see ALMOST the entire field with my glasses on - which puts it in much better territory than many other monoculars I've used, especially those of the turmon/docter/miniscope design, which are the only that seem to be comparable in size. The original turmon/docter may be the only high quality monocular in this size range, but good luck using that with glasses AT ALL, as eye relief is virtually nonexistent - and the Steiner Miniscope is still larger. The comparable 6x18 zeiss is much larger and is no more sealed against the elements, at twice the price... This is probably the smallest monocular you can find that has a good balance of utility and ease of use.I'd stay away from the 8x - 6x is definitely the sweet spot for this design, as the 8x is darker and harder to hold stable, especially with a single hand. The 6x16 combo leaves an exit pupil that isn't too hard to line up, and it's easy to hold stable while still magnifying to a useful extent. The "rectangular" view is a good balance of shaving off some weight/bulk while still presenting a very very usable image.Focus is super smooth, fast, and very easy - although it can take a delicate touch and a bit of practice to zero in that last bit of focus.The lanyard is a bit goofy in my opinion, but it's easy enough to remove - I keep this wrapped in a very thin and small microfiber for protection, and just toss it in a pocket.Seems to handle challenging lighting situations very well, and has a very good image quality for the price - You will have to spend twice as much to get higher quality, it's definitely the point where diminishing returns kick in.Literally my ONLY gripe is that it isn't nitrogen purged or similar, but that's something you will not find in this size and price point - You'd have to step up to a much larger or much more expensive monocular to get close to the size of this. The only fogproof monocular I have is the Opticron Trailfinder, which also uses a sliding focus design - it's considerably larger, and much much more difficult to focus. The only sealed monocular I can think of that would be near this size would be the Leica - Arguably the best monocular, period - unbeatable image quality and ALSO fogpoof. It is also larger than this model.This is a great monocular with a great heritage, and it's often easy to find for lower than the advertised price. Highly recommended.

The 6 power by 16 mm lens combination provides a good balance between compact size, image magnification, and image brightness. The optics are more than satisfactory for the price, providing almost non-existent color fringing and field distortion. The carry pouch is adequate only, and I may go to a leather store for materials to custom-make my own case.The monocular has a sliding focusing mechanism. However, the adjustments are coarse, even with minor movement of the slider. So it's tricky, but possible, to obtain a clear focus. But when you do so, the image is very nice, considering the size of the optics.

This is a very good monocular. Images are sharp and clear with hardly any trouble with reflections. Focusing is precise, although a bit sensitive because of the limited depth of field. I was disappointed because the lanyard cannot be removed. All-in-all a very good monocular.

For its size, the optics are superb! perfect for reading labels at a distance. Working in a pharmacy, that can be a help if you want to read a lot number on a bottle without having to walk to the shelf. On top of that, it just looks cool. No wonder James Bond would choose Minox for covert ops!

I bought this monocular for my husband who has low-vision. He took it on our vacation and loved it. He was able to focus in on nesting eagles, see things closer and thoroughly enjoyed the monocular's ability to help him see things he normally would not be able to see. It is compact enough to store in a shirt pocket and handy enough to have available when needed. I would highly recommend this product for people with low-vision problems, it was a great enhancement for his eyesight.

Great quality monocular. The only such product on the market today that isn't a disapointing toy. I own several as I'm afraid they'll quite making them . I keep them in a small survival kit ( think Bug Out Bag) and I can tell you these are a very real and serious tool to have with you at all times.

It is small light weight and sharp. What more could I want.

Ich kann die andere negative Bewertung nicht nachvollziehen: Mir wurde (übrigens am nächsten Tag!) wie erwartet das bestellte Minox MD 6x16 geliefert, keine Kopie aus Plastik. Das Gerät hat ein sehr solide wirkendes Metallgehäuse und verfügt über eine hochwertige Optik, mit der man Objekte ab ca. 1,20 m Entfernung fokussieren kann (was leicht unterhalb der offiziellen Angabe von 1,5 m liegt). Ich war zunächst skeptisch, ob ein Schieberegler zum Fokussieren feinfühlig genug einstellbar sein würde, aber dank eines satten Regelgefühls (etwa wie an hochwertigen SLR-Objektiven) ist dies in der Praxis kein Problem. Im Gegensatz zu der Abbildung ist bereits ein Halsband aus einem schwarzen Nylon-Seil (ca. 1m lang) montiert und es wird eine kleine Tasche mitgeliefert, in der man das Gerät gefahrlos mit anderen Gegenständen zusammen in eine Hosen oder Jackentasche stecken kann. Die sechsfache Vergrößerung ist ein guter Kompromiss zwischen Detailreichtum und Übersicht bei guter Handhabbarkeit. Ich freue mich schon darauf, das Gerät bei Veranstaltungen auszuprobieren!

Excellent. Light weight and hides neatly in a pocket. So easy to focus. Thia Monocular will help greatly with departure biards at stations and airports as they seem to put them so high up.

ero alla ricerca di un prodotto molto compatto, con uno zoom tra i 5 e gli 8x e casualmente mi sono imbattuto in questo modello, dopo alcune ricerche, ho notato che negli USA ne è proibita l'esportazione, in quanto adottato come prodotto militare.ho provato entrambi i modelli MD 6x16 e MD 8x16, il minore dei due, questo, mi ha colpito moltissimo!eccellente rapporto qualità/prezzo, grazie anche al'aiuto di Amazon, l'ho pagato una trentina di euro (chiarendo che a parer mio ne vale anche 100 senza troppi problemi), luminosità superiore al modello 8x e gestione molto più semplice e precisa, viste le dimensioni della leva per la messa a fuoco.il corpo è massiccio e splendidamente rifinito, in mano si nota tutta la sua robustezza, sembra un mattone e le dimensioni ridotte lo rendono perfetto per un uso giornaliero, inoltre il filo al collo, ben salto al corpo tramite due perni girevoli, è sganciabile tramite una pressione tramite penna, sulle linguette plastiche visibili dai fori.ora però, passiamo ai punti dolenti del prodotto, anche se secondari.purtroppo viene fornito privo di custodia da cintura fortunatamente ne avevo una che ci è calzata a pennello.un altra nota parzialmente dolente va al materiale, che nonostante sia molto spesso, comunque è più soggetto a graffi rispetto ai classici rivestiti in gomma, quindi è sempre bene conservarlo nella custodia.la dotazione è minimale, un sacchettino in cui riporlo in un tessuto da un lato plastico e da quello esterno vellutato, il laccio da collo, complessivamente studiato in modo eccellente e le istruzioni.complessivamente consigliatissimo, nulla da invidiare a nessun altro prodotto, anzi, a livelo qualitativo ne supera moltissimi e fino al prezzo pieno, merita decisamente l'acquisto.è da prendere assolutamente se si ha intenzione di orientarsi su questo tipo di prodotto, anche solo per risparmiar spazio nello zaino o alla cinta.

Good useful scope, well made and very clear, small enough to carry around anytime in bag or pocket. even on it's included neck strap.
