It’s a sturdy helmet. Good for urban commuting.

A 16 year old is close to mature stature. I am a mature male 6' in height, and use a large size. There is an adjuster in the back of the helmet. If the 16 year old is small frame, try the medium. Otherwise, try the large.

I purchased a medium for my 9 yr old grandson. It has an awesome way of adjusting for size and he was able to make it small enough to work well for him. So I would guess a large would be the size for a 16 yr old. He just loves the one he got here!

Honestly for myself I just guessed. If you know your hat size that's probably a good reference point. I would say that anyone above the age of twelve would probably be a medium or large. I tend to need smaller sizes for hats, and the medium helmet fit me just right, but it is adjustable to an extent.
